Passport Reader

Product Certifications (BIS, CRS, WPC, TEC)

A camera, a specially designed image device that captures pictures of the provided identification documents, is what a passport reader or passport scanner actually is. ECS provides BIS Registration for Passport Reader.

If you manufacture or import Passport Readers for use in India, it is mandatory to obtain BIS certification before selling them in the Indian market. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has set standards for Passport Readers to ensure their quality, safety, and reliability. BIS certification is a mark of quality assurance and compliance with Indian safety standards.

To obtain BIS certification for your Passport Readers, you must submit your product for testing to a BIS-approved testing laboratory. The laboratory will evaluate your product against the relevant Indian safety standards and issue a test report. If your product passes the tests, you will be granted BIS certification.

The BIS certification process includes the following steps:

1. Submit an application for BIS certification for your Passport Reader.
2. Provide the necessary documents, including test reports from a BIS-approved testing laboratory.
3. Arrange for factory inspection by a BIS officer.
4. Pay the BIS certification fees.
5. Once the certification is granted, affix the BIS certification mark on your product and packaging.

BIS certification is valid for two years and must be renewed before it expires. Non-compliance with BIS standards can result in penalties and legal consequences.

To ensure that your Passport Readers meet the BIS standards and obtain certification, it is advisable to work with a trusted BIS certification consultant. They can guide you through the certification process, provide expert advice, and help you meet the necessary compliance requirements.
